Changelog

Announcements, feature launches, and changes โ€” newest first.

The visual revamp I teased when Season 4 opened is live. EloShowdown has a completely new skin โ€” and the big idea is that the site now takes its colours from whichever season you're looking at, so browsing Vendetta feels different from browsing Unleashed.

If the site still looks like the old version, give it a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R, or long-press reload on mobile) โ€” your browser is probably holding on to the old stylesheet.

Now the apology. I am badly behind on emails and messages, and I'm sorry. There's a real backlog sitting in my inbox and I hate it. Two things have eaten all my time: I'm deep in testing and practising for the Barcelona RQ, and work has been especially busy on top of that. Nothing has been ignored or forgotten โ€” I still have every message, and I will get through all of them as soon as I come up for air.

One exception to that queue: if you spot something broken in the new skin, please do send it. Bugs jump the line. A screenshot, the page you were on, and roughly what your phone or browser is will get it fixed fast. Missing stores and missing events are still welcome too โ€” the usual address is eloquest.ink@gmail.com.

Thanks for being patient with me. Good luck out there โ€” and if you're heading to Barcelona, come say hi!

Season 4 is live! Every player's ELO has reset to 1000 for the new season โ€” as of right now the leaderboard is empty, and the first Constructed matches you play in S4 are what put you back on it.

  • Fresh start, same math. Same ELO formula as Season 3 โ€” same K-factors, same skirmish multiplier (ร—1.5).
  • Season 3 โ€” Unleashed is now closed and tagged as historical. Your full S3 record (peak, win rate, skirmish wins, achievements) stays on your player page forever, and the season selector on community and player pages lets you stack any past season against this one.
  • The usual reminders: only Constructed events count toward ELO, you need 2 tournaments to appear on the leaderboard, and your rank badge stays in placement until you've played 10 matches. Full details are in the Season 4 prep note from a couple of weeks back.

One heads-up on past seasons: as I keep adding newly-listed stores and pulling in missing tournaments, those results get slotted into whichever season they actually happened in โ€” so a previous season's leaderboard and ELO can still shift a little as older events are backfilled. That's expected and it's a good thing: it means the historical numbers are getting more accurate, not less. If your S3 (or earlier) standing moves after a backfill, that's why.

And again โ€” I'm sorry it's been taking me so long to get back to emails and messages. Work has been crazy lately (and, well, pre-rifts, lol), and I just haven't had the hours to do everything I want to. Nothing's been forgotten; I promise I'll get through it all as soon as I can.

Last thing, a little teaser: I've started experimenting with a fresh look for the site โ€” a bit of a visual revamp / new skin. Nothing to show just yet, but it's in the works...

Good luck out there โ€” see you at the top of the Vendetta ladder!

Vendetta lands on July 31, which means Season 3 โ€” Unleashed closes out on July 30 and Season 4 starts the day after. I'm working through the prep for that now so the rollover is clean.

A few reminders on how a new season works:

  • ELO resets. Everyone starts Season 4 back at 1000. Your full S3 record โ€” peak, win rate, skirmish wins, achievements โ€” stays on your player page forever.
  • Only Constructed counts. Pre-Rift and other limited events are great fun, but they don't feed into ELO. Constructed events only.
  • 2 tournaments to appear. You need to have played at least two Constructed tournaments in the season before you show up on the leaderboard.
  • 10 placement matches for a rank. Separate from the above: your rank badge stays in placement until you've played 10 matches in the season, no matter how many tournaments that takes.

Alongside the season prep I'm heads-down on two things: the email backlog and skirmishes. If you've written in and haven't heard back yet โ€” sorry for the late reply, I'm getting to it as fast as I can. Nothing's been lost.

In the meantime, if a result of yours is missing you don't have to wait on me: paste the event link into the Submit a missing event page and it'll pull the event in on the spot.

Thanks for your patience!

Thanks to everyone who's written in about missing results โ€” it's been a huge help. Digging through them, I've found that a lot of the "my event isn't showing" cases come down to one specific thing, and I wanted to explain it so you know what's going on.

Some events are set as "unlisted" on the Riftbound side. When a store or organizer creates an event, they can mark it as hidden โ€” it still runs normally and has full results, but it doesn't appear in the store's public event list. My system finds events by reading those public lists, so an unlisted event is essentially invisible to it: there's no automatic way for me to know it happened. This is different from the delayed-updates issue from a couple weeks ago (that one's fixed) โ€” an unlisted event was never going to come in on its own.

The good news: once I have the event's link, I can pull it in by hand in a couple of minutes, results and all.

So if a result of yours is missing: grab the event's link from the Riftbound locator or app (it looks like locator.riftbound.uvsgames.com/events/...) and paste it into the new Submit a missing event page โ€” it validates the link and pulls the event in on the spot, so your games show up right away (the ELO updates with that night's refresh). You can still email me at eloquest.ink@gmail.com if you'd rather, or if the store isn't in our system yet.

Thanks again for all the reports. Every one helps me keep the ladder accurate.

A quick follow-up to the last note. I said the missing-results issue was fixed โ€” and the nightly update is fixed โ€” but some older events (and a few stores) were still missing beyond that, so I've been going through and pulling them back in by hand. If something of yours still looks absent, I'm likely already on it.

I was travelling for work this week, so I've been slower than usual to reply to emails and messages โ€” sorry about that. Please keep them coming, though: every heads-up about a missing event or a store that isn't listed genuinely helps me track these down faster, and I'm grateful for each one.

Thank you all for your patience and for reaching out. I'm working through the backlog and things should be fully caught up shortly. If your event or store still isn't showing after a day or two, drop me a line at eloquest.ink@gmail.com and I'll sort it.

For a few days (roughly June 23 +) some tournament results from the past week weren't showing up โ€” ELO, leaderboards and player pages weren't picking up the newest events. Apologies if your latest matches looked like they'd gone missing!

The cause was a small bug in the overnight update that pulls in new results: it got tripped up and stopped before the latest tournaments could be added. To be clear โ€” nothing was ever lost, those events just hadn't been brought in yet.

It's all sorted now: the update has been fixed so it won't get stuck like that again, and it's caught back up on the days it missed. Your recent tournaments and ELO changes are back in place.

A big thank you to everyone for your patience โ€” and a special apology to those who took the time to reach out by email or on X to flag this. It genuinely helps, and I'm sorry for the trouble it caused.

If you still spot a specific tournament that looks missing or incomplete, drop me a line at eloquest.ink@gmail.com and I'll pull it in. Thanks again!

Store leagues are ready to roll out more widely! The feature is still in beta, so expect a few rough edges โ€” if you run into anything broken, weird, or missing, please send feedback. Bug reports and feature ideas are extremely welcome at this stage.

If you run a Riftbound league at your store โ€” weekly league tournaments, monthly seasons, anything with cumulative standings across multiple tournaments โ€” EloShowdown can host the public standings page so you don't have to maintain a spreadsheet on the side.

  • Public standings pages. Each league has a permanent URL with the season standings, league days played, and a description / rules card. Standings update automatically as you run the tournaments through UVS โ€” no manual data entry. Browse the directory at Communities โ†’ your community โ†’ Leagues.
  • Flexible scoring. Set your own points per win/draw/loss, plus optional bonuses for X-0 finishes, individual games won (Bo3), and byes. You can also count only the best N tournament results per player if your league drops scores. Tiebreakers are drag-and-drop reorderable.
  • Self-service admin portal. Sign in at /store-admin/login/ with a one-time magic link (no passwords) โ€” once you're invited, you can create leagues, set scoring rules, pick which UVS events count toward each season, and download a polished Excel scoreboard with one click. You can also invite multiple teammates to manage the same store.
  • Customisation that meets your league. Custom league rules + description (rendered as Markdown), custom column labels, and optional public columns for rounds won and games won.
  • How to get in. If your store is already on EloShowdown, drop me a line at eloquest.ink@gmail.com with the email you'd like as the admin and I'll send the magic-link invite. If your store isn't listed yet, mention that in the email and I'll get it added.
  • Missing a feature? If your league uses a scoring rule, tiebreaker, or display option that isn't there yet, email me โ€” chances are it's a small addition and I'm happy to build it in.

Huge thanks to the stores that helped beta-test the flow. Again โ€” apologies in advance for any bugs you hit while we're still in beta, and please send the feedback in. The faster I hear about it, the faster it gets fixed!

Season 3 starts today! Every player's ELO resets to 1000 for the new season. As of this moment, no one is on the leaderboard yet โ€” the first two matches you play in S3 are what put you there.

  • Fresh start, same math. Same ELO formula as Season 2, same K-factors, same skirmish multiplier (x1.5).
  • Season 2 โ€” Spiritforge is now closed and tagged as historical. Your full S2 record (peak, win rate, skirmish wins, achievements) stays visible on your player page forever.
  • Compare across seasons. The Season Comparison block on player pages now has a season selector โ€” pick any prior season to stack against the one you're viewing. Handy for tracking how your S3 run is shaping up against your previous seasons self.

Good luck out there!

The notifications feature I mentioned a couple of posts back is ready to use. Open a tournament tracker, pin the players you want to follow, and hit the bell chip to turn it on.

  • What you can be notified about. A pinned player finishes their match (with score), a new round's pairings are posted (with your table and opponent, if you mark which pinned player is you), or the round is fully complete. You can toggle each one on or off.
  • One tournament at a time. Notifications are tied to the tournament you're tracking. Open a different one and turn them on there, and the previous one is dropped automatically. They also turn off on their own once the tournament ends.
  • Devices. Works as a proper push notification on Android and desktop browsers, even with the tab closed. On iPhone/iPad you need to add the site to your Home Screen first (Apple's rule). If push isn't available you'll still get in-tab pop-ups while the tracker is open.

Let me know how it goes!

The hosting migration I mentioned yesterday is done. As of today the site is running fully on its new home โ€” pages should load noticeably faster, especially the leaderboards and player pages!

  • What changed. Dedicated server, co-located database, off-site backups. The scheduled updates that used to occasionally hit timeouts now run reliably.
  • What's next. I will prioritize emails to make sure no player or event is missing! I will also focus on Season 3 prep, plus the in-progress features.

Thanks for your patience over the migration window!

A quick update on a few things.

  • New changelog page. This area is where I'll post site updates, feature launches, and general news so it's easier to keep track of what's going on.
  • Emails. I've been on a work trip this past week which made it hard to reply to emails. I've read them all and have them in mind โ€” I'll get back to everyone as soon as I can.
  • Hosting migration. Currently working on moving the site to a better, faster host. The goal is a smoother experience for everyone, lower running costs, and more headroom to ship new features (especially the kind that run quietly in the background, like scheduled updates and notifications).
  • Season 3. Getting things ready for the season 3 kick-off. It's taking a bit of time because I want everything set up properly, and I also want to time it well with the hosting migration.
  • New features in the works. A couple of things I'm building alongside everything else: tournament round notifiers (push alerts when your next round is up), and store leagues (currently in beta โ€” I'll dedicate a more detailed post on this soon; in the meantime, let me know if your store is interested!).

Thanks for your patience!
